Our UV Is Safe
We believe safety should be automatic. With multiple safety features that come as standard equipment and emit zero byproducts, you can rest assured that people are protected for the long haul.
UV simply breaks down the DNA or RNA of surface and airborne germs. With our highly regulated Philips UV bulbs, ozone cannot be emitted or created as a byproduct..
We only use very low mercury lamps that can be disposed of without any special considerations, or we can supply an EPA disposal certificate if requested. Shatter-proof bulb sleeves are very rarely requested, but are optional.
You’ll never have to request these standard safety features and we’ll never charge you extra for them:

Our wall or ceiling mounted “Upper-Room” UV fixtures are specially calibrated to keep the powerful UV in the space safely above occupants’ heads. We verify that you have enough UV to kill germs in those spaces with the highest risk , but no unsafe levels in the lower, occupied space. Each unit has its own manual on/off switch for local control. We prefer hard wire options for these units for both the look and safety, but if you prefer a standard plug, that’s no problem.
For In-duct UV, tamper-resistant access safety switches are included every time. This will keep any maintenance personnel from inadvertently accessing an active UV zone. A sight glass or LED indicator gives you a quick reference that the unit is functioning. Metal-clad wiring and military grade quick-connect features allow for rapid service if needed and protect equipment from UV rays and moisture commonly present in those zones. High quality potted UV Ballasts are designed for the wet environment and easily accessible if needed.
Portable UV is designed with the user in mind. Signage is included with every purchase to help prevent entry into a UV zone. UV-C is safely absorbed by glass, so if you have observers outside of the room, that’s perfectly ok. A delay timer must be set before it can be activated which gives you plenty of time to exit the room. While it’s running, both front and rear facing motion sensors will automatically turn the unit off if someone approaches the unit. We also provide a free pack of Dosimeters as a quick measurement tool for you to see that enough UV was emitted in the space – OR to verify that a certain zone was protected, such as on the back side of a window.
