MAKING THE SMART CHOICE FOR AIR QUALITY TECHNOLOGY:  THE SAFE AIR UV DIFFERENCE

The American lifestyle has people remaining indoors instead of outdoors most of the time.  Buildings including our homes are full of occupants, furniture, building materials, heat sources, bacteria, chemicals, and other contaminants that negatively affect our health.

Safe Air has solutions that counter this trend with our ultraviolet light disinfection products.

CLEAN AIR TECHNOLOGY

One look at air cleaning technologies will provide you with multiple options for eliminating indoor air pollution.  However, the choices are not all effective for every need.   The White House, CDC, ASHRAE, and others agree on three primary methods. 1) Ventilation, 2) Filtration, and 3) UV Disinfection.

Ventilation is great for improving air quality - as long as the outside air is clean - but it's incredibly expensive to retrofit, and to operate. Filtration is everywhere, but some use low MERV filters with practically no benefits, and others may use a HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filter system. High MERV and especially HEPA filters are very good at removing airborne allergens, and other very small pollutants. But the smallest and often most dangerous contaminants such as viruses, odors, and bacteria continue to pass through these filters leading to a continuation of poor air quality indoors.

UVGI has a long proven history in federal applications, schools, hospitals, and other buildings. A peer-reviewed science article by Reed (2010) examined numerous 3rd party studies conducted on the efficacy and safety of the use of UVGI in eliminating germs in the air. Reed concluded that if used correctly, UVGI can be safe while at the same time being incredibly effective. ASHRAE also provides a good overview of UVGI and its advantages, specifically its reduction in germs on HVAC surfaces and in the air, an increase in savings due to cleaning of coils and a rapid Return On Investment in most cases.

ASHRAE shows that a combined approach is extremely effective. By adding UVGI to protect your building envelope, you can improve your air quality, and reduce your ventilation and filtration expenses at the same time, saving your budget even more.
